Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If breathing is irregular or has stopped, trained personnel should provide artificial respiration or oxygen. Call a poison center or physician if you feel unwell. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.
Skin contact: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 10 minutes. If irritation or rash occurs, get medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse.
Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical attention immediately.
Ingestion: Aspiration hazard: do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Immediately call a poison center or physician. If vomiting occurs, keep head low so vomit does not enter the lungs.
Most important symptoms/effects: Serious eye damage (pain, watering, redness, blurred vision). Skin irritation; possible allergic skin reaction. Respiratory tract irritation, coughing, headache, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, unconsciousness (CNS depression). Chronic overexposure may damage organs. Suspected carcinogen; may damage fertility or the unborn child.
Note to physician: Treat symptomatically. Contact a poison treatment specialist immediately if large quantities have been ingested or inhaled. Aspiration into the lungs during swallowing or vomiting may cause chemical pneumonitis.
Suitable extinguishing media: Dry chemical, CO₂, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray (fog). Unsuitable: Water jet (spreads the fire).
Specific hazards: Highly flammable liquid and vapor. Vapor is heavier than air, spreads along the ground and may travel a considerable distance to an ignition source and flash back. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air and may accumulate in low or confined areas. Containers may burst in heat of fire. Static discharge may ignite vapors. Runoff to sewer may create fire or explosion hazard. Combustion produces carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
Protective equipment for fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with full face-piece in positive pressure mode and full protective clothing. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool.
Personal precautions: Evacuate surrounding areas; keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel away. Eliminate all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames). Avoid breathing vapor or mist. Provide adequate ventilation; wear appropriate respirator when ventilation is inadequate. Put on appropriate personal protective equipment (Section 8). Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment; guard against static discharge.
Environmental precautions: Prevent entry into sewers, watercourses, basements or confined areas. Inform authorities if the product has caused environmental pollution.
Containment and clean-up: Stop leak if without risk. Contain and absorb spillage with non-combustible absorbent (sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth) and place in a closed container for disposal via a licensed waste disposal contractor. Contaminated absorbent may pose the same hazard as the spilled product.
Handling: Obtain special instructions before use. Avoid exposure during pregnancy. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Do not breathe vapor or mist. Do not ingest. Use only with adequate ventilation. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flame and other ignition sources. No smoking. Ground and bond containers when transferring. Use explosion-proof electrical equipment and non-sparking tools. Empty containers retain product residue and can be hazardous; do not reuse, cut, weld or grind containers. Eating, drinking and smoking prohibited where handled. Wash hands and face after handling.
Storage: Store locked up, in original tightly closed container, upright, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, incompatible materials (Section 10), food and drink. Eliminate ignition sources. Separate from oxidizing materials. Do not store in unlabeled containers.
