Section 2. Hazards identification

Classification of the mixture (29 CFR 1910.1200)

Not classified as hazardous under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. All hazard classes evaluated by the calculation method (29 CFR 1910.1200 Appendix A mixture cutoff/additivity rules): eye-irritant components and skin-sensitizing components are each present below their respective classification thresholds; the aqueous mixture does not sustain combustion; no component drives acute toxicity, carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity, target organ toxicity or aspiration classification at product concentrations.

GHS label elements

Signal word: none required. Hazard pictograms: none required. Hazard statements: none required.

Supplemental label information

Keep out of reach of children. Contains a small amount of d-limonene (citrus terpene) below the classification threshold: individuals already sensitized to citrus oils should avoid prolonged skin contact. Avoid eye contact; rinse with water if product gets in eyes.

Section 3. Composition / information on ingredients

Mixture. Specific chemical identities and exact percentages of non-hazard-driving components are withheld as a trade secret in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.1200(i). All information required to be disclosed concerning hazards is provided in this SDS.

IngredientCAS number% by weight
Dibasic esters (dimethyl glutarate / succinate / adipate)95481-62-2 (blend)5 – <10
d-Limonene (fragrance)5989-27-50.1 – <1
Water and proprietary non-hazardous components (glycol ether solvent, nonionic surfactant)Trade secretBalance

d-Limonene is disclosed as a skin sensitizer present at ≥ 0.1% even though the mixture does not classify for sensitization.

Section 4. First-aid measures

Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. Get medical attention if symptoms occur (mist inhalation is unlikely in normal drop-wise use).

Skin contact: Wash with plenty of soap and water. If irritation or an allergic rash develops, get medical attention. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Eye contact: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, occasionally lifting the eyelids. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do; continue rinsing for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, get medical attention.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Most important symptoms/effects: Eye irritation (stinging, tearing, redness). Possible allergic skin reaction (redness, rash, itching) in sensitized individuals.

Note to physician: Treat symptomatically.

Section 5. Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Product is an aqueous mixture and does not sustain combustion; use media appropriate for the surrounding fire (water spray, dry chemical, CO₂, foam). Specific hazards: None known; thermal decomposition in a fire may produce carbon oxides. Protective equipment for fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus in any enclosed fire.

Section 6. Accidental release measures

Wear gloves and eye protection (Section 8). Slippery when spilled. Absorb with inert material (paper towel, sand, absorbent pads) and place in a container for disposal. Wash the spill area with water. Prevent large quantities from entering waterways: the product contains d-limonene, which is toxic to aquatic life in concentrated form.

Section 7. Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact. Wash hands after use. Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling. Storage: Store upright in the original tightly closed container at room temperature. Protect from freezing (aqueous product). Keep out of reach of children. No special ventilation or segregation required.

Section 8. Exposure controls / personal protection

IngredientExposure limit
Dipropylene glycol methyl ether (glycol ether class, proprietary component)ACGIH TLV: 100 ppm TWA; 150 ppm STEL (skin)
Dibasic estersNone established (manufacturer guideline ~10 mg/m³ total)
d-LimoneneNone established (AIHA WEEL formerly 30 ppm)

Engineering controls: Normal room ventilation is adequate for intended drop-wise use. Eye/face: Safety glasses recommended when dispensing. Hands: Nitrile gloves recommended, particularly for users with sensitive skin or frequent occupational use (sensitizer present). Respiratory: Not required for intended use.

Section 9. Physical and chemical properties

Physical state / appearanceLiquid; milky white emulsion
OdorMild citrus
Flash pointNone below 93°C; aqueous mixture does not sustain combustion (not classified flammable)
pH6 – 8 (approximately neutral)
Relative density~1.0 g/cm³
Solubility in waterMiscible / stable emulsion
Boiling point~100°C (water-based)
Freezing point~0°C; protect from freezing
Vapor pressure / evaporation rateSimilar to water; slow-evaporating organic fraction
VOC contentLow; aqueous product. Details available from supplier.

Section 10. Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions. Possibility of hazardous reactions: None known. Conditions to avoid: Freezing (emulsion may separate; not a safety hazard). Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents. Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides in fire.

Section 11. Toxicological information

Likely routes of exposure: Skin contact, eye contact.

Acute toxicity: Not classified. Component data: dibasic esters LD50 oral rat > 5,000 mg/kg; d-limonene LD50 oral rat ~4,400 mg/kg; glycol ether component LD50 oral rat ~5,100 mg/kg. Mixture ATE far above classification thresholds.

Eye: May cause mild, transient eye irritation; below classification threshold. Skin: Not an irritant at product concentrations; individuals already sensitized to d-limonene/citrus terpenes could react to prolonged contact (content below classification threshold). Chronic effects: None of the components are classified carcinogens (IARC/NTP/OSHA), mutagens or reproductive toxicants at product concentrations.

Section 12. Ecological information

Not classified for environmental hazards at product concentrations. d-Limonene is toxic to aquatic life as a neat substance; the product's content is below classification thresholds. Glycol ether and ester components are readily biodegradable. Avoid discharge of bulk quantities to waterways.

Section 13. Disposal considerations

Small residential quantities may generally be disposed of with household waste or rinsed to sanitary sewer where local rules allow. Commercial quantities: dispose of in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Not a RCRA characteristic hazardous waste (not ignitable, corrosive, reactive or toxic per 40 CFR 261).

Section 14. Transport information

Not regulated as a dangerous good under DOT, IMDG or IATA. No UN number, hazard class, packing group, or hazmat marking applies. May be transported by ground or air without dangerous-goods restriction.

Section 15. Regulatory information

US Federal: Not classified as hazardous per OSHA HCS (29 CFR 1910.1200). SARA 311/312: not applicable (no reportable hazard categories). SARA 313: no reportable components. All components are on or exempt from the TSCA inventory.

California Proposition 65: This product does not contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm at or above warning thresholds. No Proposition 65 warning is required.
